First of all: what it's not

Traditional hypnotherapy aims to take you into a deep state of trance. It works on the belief that in this state you're open to the suggestions made by the therapist. These suggestions tend to be focused on the problem, so clients with the same issue tend to be treated in the same way.

an individual. I identify
the unique mind-pattern of your issue
and tailor specially for you a programme
to guide you towards the solution that
you want for yourself.
For example, two people may both smoke
20 cigarettes a day. For one it may be
a response to boredom, the other may
perceive smoking as essential to remaining
calm. The route to a solution for each
will be different.

something everyone experiences everyday ,
for example when we daydream, drive
on auto-pilot or become so absorbed
in any activity that "the world
ceases to exist". It's familiar,
natural and doesn't need to be deep
for effective therapy. So you can be
aware that you are in control - and

Partnership - As a Cognitive Hypnotherapist, I work in partnership with you. Cognitive Hypnotherapy sessions are interesting, enlightening and empowering.
Control - If you've become stuck with a habit (e.g. smoking, nail-biting, over-eating), or you can't overcome negative feelings (like anxiety, grief or nerves), my belief is that you have everything you need to gain control. I can help you find what you need inside yourself.
Up-to-date - Cognitive Hypnotherapists work from an understanding of the mind and of the mind-body connection that is based on modern neuroscience. I also use insights and tools from a wide range of psychological and therapeutic disciplines, including NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and Positive Psychology. This means I can design a programme specifically suited to your needs and wishes. Scientific backing - In common with hypnotherapy in general, Cognitive Hypnotherapy has two ringing endorsements. The first is from the reputable consumer organisation Which?

Secondly, the British Medical Association has recognised the validity of hypnosis as a therapeutic intervention since 1955.
